Stow’s Town Meeting Moderator, Ed Newman, announces a new DVD called Town Meeting and You produced by the Massachusetts Moderators Association.
The DVD is designed to encourage all voters to participate in their Town Meetings and is narrated by NECN's R.D. Sahl. It includes comments from a number of voters, including four from Stow, on why they and others should participate in their open Town Meetings. The program includes scenes from a number of vintage and recent Town Meetings, along with current substantive and procedural information presented by three moderators about various aspects of Town Meeting, including the warrant, the role of the moderator at Town Meeting, and the most common motions available for use at Town Meeting. The DVD runs for approximately thirty minutes.
The DVD explains how those who have not previously attended Town Meeting may prepare for and participate in their Town Meetings, and will serve as a refresher for those who have attended previously. The DVD was shown on Stow TV’s channel 9 during the weeks prior to Stow's May 2007 Annual Town Meeting.
