Library Organizations

Randall Library Trustees

Trustees work with the Director to set library policy.  They also manage bequests for the benefit of the library and determine yearly disbursement amounts which the Director uses over the course of the year for the purchase of library materials and some library programming.  Salaries and physical plant operations are not funded by the Trust, but are funded by the town.  Slightly over 1% of Stow's tax revenues are used for library support.  There are 7 Randall Library Trustees.  Trustees are elected town officials and serve staggered 3 year terms.  The Trustees generally meet on the 3rd Wednesday of the month.  Of course, this  is an open meeting and citizens are welcome to attend.  Peter Masters chairs this committee.

Friends of the Randall Library

The  Friends support the library by encouraging community library usage.  They sponsor special programming, such as the very popular Ice Cream Social, and fund museum passes for the benefit of Randall Library card holders.  All special programming funded by the Friends is free of charge to patrons.  Strong Friends of Libraries organizations are essential when big-time library expansion is necessary as they generally drive fundraising efforts.   The Friends meet quarterly or as needed and all are welcome!  Kathleen Pavelchek presides.

Second Century Fund Trustees

The Second Century Fund is an independent library fundraising arm.  Trustees (5) are approved for appointment by either the Friends of the Randall Library or the Trustees of the Randall Library.  Terms vary.  The Second Century Fund Trustees meet monthly to quarterly, depending upon necessity.  Trustees disburse anually for the benefit of the library to the Director.  Tim Reed is the chairman of the 2nd Century Fund Trustees.
